My 08 IS250 went tto lexus this morning for some recall work and some fluids changed (trans, diffs, power steering) and Lexus of richmond hill was kind enough to give me the keys to this thing. I like it a lot.
Pros:
1: it feels like a more space efficent car. where as my 08 feels a bit fat, this one feels (and looks) much much more narrow.
2: the motor. this car has the venerable 3.5 V6, making 260 HP through a 6 speed box and AWD, and it MOVES compared to my 200HP 250. I like it! Makes a great sound track too.
3: love love love the new center console
4: gauge cluster looks so god dam classy. I know you can get this is the LFA TFT screen...but...IDK. the base gauges are pretty cool too.
cons:
1: no vented front seats. I am spoiled with my car on this. they are available, just not in the one that I had
2: they got rid of the nifty sunglasses holder in the roof. not a big thing.
3: no sun roof on the car I had.
Over all, I like it. a lot. Is it enough to convince me to trade in my 08 and get it? if I had the coin, maybe. Its certianly a fantastic all around machine.
INB4: BUT MUH MANUALS. meh. The auto works for getting to and from work. I still have my bikes for my fun, so fuck it. Auto DD it is

The 3rd gen IS is a solid car. Probably some nice deals on off lease ones atm.

No sunroof? Never seen one like that in Trumputinland. This must be the lease loss leader.
I notice the pics are angled to not show the predator maw :)
I test drove one of these at launch, a nicely loaded AWD IS250. With that powertrain, you can imagine it was kind of tepid.

But could you look at that face on a daily basis? I would have to park it so that when I walk back to it, I only see the rear end.

yea, i like the face. again, it really only works on the cars that were designed to include it, not like the ES where they took an avalon and slapped it on.
Looks better in litterally any other color then this one though.

I dont need to imagine. that power train is what is in MY IS. The extra 60 HP in this one was GREATLY appreciated.

As a former owner of an IS250, anything moves compared to it. That car was the biggest dog I ever owned.

true. But I’m also acustomed to motorcycles, which REALLY move compared to cars.

It’s weird/annoying to me that even though the motor in the IS 300 AWD is detuned vs the IS 350, it still requires premium fuel.

not this one. guy at counter told me it runs on regular.
I think if I bought one, id have it tuned back up to 350 specs. my current 250 takes prem fuel anyways, so I wouldnt notice much.

All I know is fueleconomy.gov says it takes premium. It might be fine to put regular in it, but at least according to the EPA tests premium is required/recommended.
